Tarheal,

I think 6 would be the best. I have two sets internal front two crossmembers, and going with tall externals on the back.

While sitting on my throne this morning and reading my bible I saw this page. The last one I think you can use on the inside.

curtiscapk, I see your point. I used the tall ones for my ski boat, they helped a bunch. Use the tall ones in the back and the shorter rollers to help line up on the bunk. got it....thanks I think that would work great.

I have had my share of pissed off moments at the boat ramp attempting to load my pontoon!!! I have had an idea very similar to what Bamby has on his trailer only I planed on making the two guides come to a point at the back of the trailer to make it even easier to load; sort of funnel the boat in. My question is: has anyone tried this and does it work? I have a feeling that at most boat ramps, the very back of the trailer may be too deep for the front of the toons to even make contact so it might be useless. Also, as someone mentioned earlier, will the lifting strakes interfere with the guides since they stick out slightly farther than the OD of the tube?

I wouldn't set them up to funnel. The front of the pontoon seems to be more stable than the rear. Usually it's the rear floating around that causes the problems.

What I did was take the interior guide posts off, turn them around, and bolt 2x4x12's to them. Then I cut some 18"x1/8" thick steel straps with holes on a 16" center and use that as supports to keep the guide posts from bending inward. So far it works like a champ.

Here's a pic with the guide posts removed. You can see one of the guide posts lying on the ground. Just turn it around so that the flat side is up against the 2x4.

And now a couple with the guides reinstalled turned around with the 2x4's and steel straps.
