Well I took it out today, this time made it 2000-3000 feet from the dock before it died. Limped back in the marina where its at, they are going to go thru it for me and tune up, the tune up, I had that took for ever. Here is what I did notice.
Maybe were it was the first run off the year, but the motor seems to be more quite, in that it being lower I'm hearing less of it.
While going out in the no wake zone, the steering was far more responsive than ever before, and that at less than 6 m.p.h. My running joke is you do not steer them, you aim them! I can not tell if its the 3rd toon, or the piece on the bottom of the center toon where it rests on acting as a keel? Or both? See the pics in the storeage unit for what I mean. It was turning very well, even though the steering cable (brand new) has some issue, very hard to turn.
While going out thru the no wake zone, the boat seemed stiffer? more rigid? I do not know if I was being hyper sensitive, I do not know?
Once out of the no wake zone, working my way up to W.O.T. it died, I did notice an old issue that is gone. On the front of the left toon was something that caused water droplets to fly up, it was one of those things that just bugs you! It was not doing it today...in the short run I did. I'm thinking with the front being lifted, the area on the front is not touching water to cause the issue.
As for the motor/boat performance, will post it up after the 2nd tune up of the year, after it's out of the shop. Was all prepared for numbers, had a hand held Magellan unit, and speed view on the phone, oh well.

Re: What I encountered when adding a 3rd toon
I forgot to say this in the last post. The phone was on the boat, when I walked to the service dept to buy a bolt. A boat was put in at the launch, they are having major issues, motor cover up, people scrambling to reload the boat. By this time I'm at the service dept 40 feet away. They pulled it out, water running off the trailer as it does. Expect for that blast of water thats not stopping, coming out of what looked to be about an inch wide hole where the drain plug goes .......OOOOPS! As I walked past the guy who owned it waiting for the water to stop I told him "If I had my phone with me you where less than 30 minutes away from being on Youtube this morning"
Re: What I encountered when adding a 3rd toon
An update on things. Over the last 2 plus weeks got it to run somewhat. First week the best I could do was 10-13 mph due to engine issues. This past friday replaced fuel line and bulb. When I did that cleared up about 40% of my problems. Went to dead on 14 mph all day. That nite when leaving an area we were at, I did a WOT take off and the engine ran like it did before it went back into its issues after 20 seconds or so. Speed view said I hit 18mph...that was into a 15+ plus wind, top open, and a heavy chop, 10-12 inches. Prior best was 21.9 mph, on flat water, no wind, top down. When the motor issue is fixed if all I get is 18mph???? worth it for these reason's.
To say a night and day diffrence in handleing does not even come close to the performance upgrade.
Circles....was doing it yesterday, waiting dor a fuel spot to open 60 foot arch?
Low speed steering huge up grade, also at faster speeds, but more noticeable at low speed ie: no wake zones.
Waves, was doing things I never would do before to see how it would handle, for boats that ride low like mine did, again night and day, just goofing around taking them head on no issues. The big ones from wind and some 30-40 footers left ( at least 2 footers) I did have to be carefull with those.
On those big ones when on top of them much more ridged, did not have that twisting feeling.
And also took it through an area called the broads, NEVER dared to go out there before due to the low rider effect, it was a smooth day no issues, yesterday on the west end of the broads heavy winds in the a.m. with white caps zero issues, at 14 mph I do not remember slowing down at all?
I'll end here, the only thing to pound home is if you do what I did do it earlier in the year, so you can work out the bugs in the preseason, and shop time is not a issue, as it is with me right now. Also my guess the conditions when I did 18 mph, cost me at least 2 mph, for a 1.9 mph diffrence and no finless brown moments it's worth the trade any day.
