If you get the chance to demo a few, check the vibration levels at low to mid speeds. I found the Premier with a 225hp i/o and Volvo Penta duo drive to have much more vibration than any of the 225hp outboards we tested. Granted, we only drove two i/o boats, the Premier and a 300hp JC tritoon. The JC did not have the vibration but was a much quicker boat. All the outboards were 225hp - Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Mercury Optimax - all smooth as glass - and quiet too.

Agreed - there's some vibration from the engine at low RPM's on the Mercruiser 3.0l on our boat (22' suntracker I/O). I think it's because the motor is mounted more into the frame of the entire boat, and on a pontoon there's a lot more to vibrate when it comes to railings, doors and biminis.

I'll be fixing all of that today though with some little sticky rubber grommets that I'll put wherever something is vibrating and clinking.

Yep, I/Os + aluminum boats = vibration, especially the 3.0. Best you can do is what Beermunk said. I put rubber strips on all the storage bins on the Starcraft and that took care of 90 percent of the vibration noise. The PC, it's not an issue, everything is carpeted, even the engine compartment.

badmoonrising - where and what did you buy for your rubber strips? I know exactly what I need to purchase but I can see walking into the hardware store and not being able to explain what it is I need.

Rubber dampening with 3M sticky backing... something like that.

I got mine at our local ACE True Value. Forget what exactly they call it though, but it was in the same section as storm doors and is one sided black foam tape.
