Hmm... looks like my next boat will be a Bennington then. After I pay this one off early, I'm gonna go ahead and get another luxury pontoon, so I can have a fishing one and the luxury leisure one.
Which raises another question for me. Are fishing pontoons somewhat more rare than the non-fishing ones? I seem to only ever see the non-fishing ones. Unless its one of those...1995 to about 2007 boats, where they tried to combine the two. It seems to me they're moving away from that. Nowadays it seems like its more along the lines of one, or the other. Either its a fishing toon, or a non-fishing toon.
Maybe most people think fishing off a toon isn't really feasible, but all those other types of boats are just too small for my liking. Only type of fishing I can't really do to my liking, would be bass fishing back up in some of the narrow creeks. It would be advantageous to have a bass boat for those situations.

direct opposite, more company's now offer fish/cruise models then ever before. a few did in the past, now there's probably not a builder that doesn't offer one.

I went from a 24'Bentley to a 24' G3 Suncatcher. Huge upgrade. The Bentley has a good strong name, but really poor quality I think.
Re: Pontoon boat brand names
I have a Manitou Osprey Pro. 24ft SHP.
It is a fishing luxury pontoon. I upgraded the two front chairs to arm chairs (which I never get to sit in because my guests always glom onto them first
I've fished 4 men and 2 boys off the boat with no one getting in each others way.
I've also pulled tubers and water skiers and had 11 people on the boat just hanging out.
I've had no complaints about build quality (top notch as far as I can tell after 7 years with it) or service.
I run about 41 mph with a 175HP motor under ideal conditions. Usually about 37-38. But I turn better than any pontoon on the lake.

Re: Pontoon boat brand names
Funny everyone mentions interiors being a difference in quality. A lot of pontoon interiors are made under one roof.
http://www.lexingtonproducts.com/products/marine
make interiors for almost the whole boating industry. It all depends on how much $ the boat manufacturer wants to spend, to get the quality they want to give their customers. Some have the luxury of building "in house". But most are subbed out.
Who builds the best? who can say. I can say Premier is best, because I own one. I won't... I can say Manitou is best, because I have ties with the company... But again, I won't... I can tell you the good, bad and the ugly of every boat I have owned. And let that be a guide for if I would buy from that company again.
It all boils down to how much we want to spend, for the type and quality of boat we want... we get what we pay for!
