I feel your pain.

Living on a lake that hosts hundreds of bass tournaments year, including two Big Bass Bashs that includes hundreds of boats over a two day weekend, we see our fair share of both the good and bad fisherpersons.

What really pisses me off is the bow hunters and their tournaments. They go after carp (and maybe buffalo) but what they kill, they dump back into the lake. And living across from a public ramp. the smell of dozens of floating dead fish during the summer isn't pleasant.

What happens at the lake stays at the lake. Unless I have my camera handy.

DNR means "Do Not Resuscitate." That's why you see dead bass near boat ramps after bass tournaments. :biggrin2

This is correct. On our lake they are the primary law enforcement body, then four counties have boats on the lake. They signed an agreement a few years back that allows all counties to patrol all parts of the lake here which was a little silly to me. Assist other officers and special events, yes I agree, but to just patrol was a little too much. What happened was a county with very little shoreline now has the most boats on the lake and they don't keep hardy any on their shoreline.

Here the DNR guys are good for the most part, but most of the county guys are just road guys and don't know hardly any of the laws correctly, or how to use a boat. I watched two guys run aground on a double engine fire boat and try to rock it off with the motors like it was a truck stuck in the mud. We were hollering at them to trim the motors up and they had no clue what we were talking about or how to do so. I ended up walking over on the roadbed they were stuck on and trimming up from the motors and showing them where on the controls to do it.

Bassholes... Love it!

Some of my good friends are bass tourney fisher people. Fine folks in person tho I can't vouch for their behavior on the water.

I was heading into the ramp after a nice day out with the family. Was well past the no wake buoy and heading for the one spot left on the courtesy dock to drop myself off to back the trailer in and get outta Dodge. The place was festered with the bass boys. I'm half way from the buoy to the dock and here comes Mr. Sparklie Boat roaring past at huge wake speeds, just to drop down to mild wake speed right in front of me to take that last spot.

I muttered a few choice words to myself and went into a holding pattern. Mr. Sparklie Boat proceeds to tie up and then go shoot the breeze with other fellow bassholes leaning up against the back of some pickup in the lot for about 10 minutes. I ended up just doing a soft beach in the launch lane and got my truck, loaded and gone in less than 5 minutes.

I would have put out appropriate fenders and tied up to him and walked across his boat to the dock. If he had any objection, then we'd have a conversation about his actions.

Outnumbered, outsized, family aboard... Your idea, and a few others certainly crossed my mind. That parking lot was littered with sparklie boats and testosterone laced macho men.

My only desire at that point was to load and go. Sometimes arguments, even when you know you're right, are best avoided.
