As usual, I never seem to have pictures. I only tow my boat once or twice per year to do maintenance anyway.

My tow vehicle is a 2003 Ford F250 SuperDuty Lariat 7.3 Powerstroke crewcab two wheel drive truck. It has D-P Tuner 80 hp and 60 hp tunes, TruCool tranny cooler and AirRide 5000 air bags. I bought it new with almost every factory option and leather captain chairs.

My 125K mile diesel has more life left in the engine than a brand new gasoline powered truck. And after the body shop took out all the dents and scratches (put on by my wife), it now is almost in new condition.

With the 80 hp tune, the F250 is a pretty impressive running vehicle. I can be running 20 mph unloaded, hit the throttle and look in my rear view mirror to see two long black streaks of rubber. The 7.3 motor is loud, but it gets 20 mpg on the open road and 15 mpg towing.

It's now towing a new 37' fifth wheel trailer (11K lbs.) that's kept in the North Georgia Mountain town of Helen. Towing that monster, I'm getting 11 mpg.

My truck was a great long term value in a tow vehicle. But new diesel trucks are $55k, and it'd be a stretch to buy a new truck to replace mine. I think I'll try to get another 13 years out of this one before passing it off to the grandson.

Usually I pull this with my Suburban, but this does the job too.

Two trucks here. Newer F150 handles the pontoon boat and bass boat. Twisted up, the dodge handles the little bit bigger toy and the pete handles 9.
PS. Lawn mower kicks ass to. LOL

Did switch the front tags .. Dodge does pull the boats some times but the ford is a lot smoother riding.

This is good to see. I've got a '15 Canyon and it worries me when every person on here is towing their boats with heavy duty diesels. I'm certain the Twins can handle it though. All I need now is a boat to tow :(

Your canyon is more than enough to enjoy a pull to the river or lake with a 22 or 24 foot pontoon.
Weight, wind and speed is what has to be considered. .
If your truck is lighter keep your speed down, in the 55 to 60 mph range. The heavier trucks are for pulling heavier loads and can do so at higher speeds. Seen far to many campers this year, come by me, being pulled at 75 mph even with the 2500s and single wheel 3500s only to see them ditched and traffic at a shut down a ways up the road.

Bout that time of year folks start thinking about trading up, selling, so check Craigs list, and e bay, often.
Two best places to find one someone is trying to unload quick.
Good luck and see you on the water. :thumbsup

Here's a few to drive up the post count: :nana

My usual tow vehicle. 2013 Tahoe. MPG running around 10-12 while towing. The cover actually gave me 1-2 MPG as it helped the aerodynamics.

I use the Jeep (2001 TJ Sport 6 cyl/Auto) to tool around town, get gas, etc. and can actually launch and recover at one of the local ramps. The ramp has a gentle slope and in a sheltered Marina at our Casino. It's only about a mile & 1/2 from the house, so it doesn't handle too bad up to 45 MPH. I don't know if I'd risk anything faster or a steep ramp. I couldn't even guess the MPG. Jeeps aren't famous for their fuel economy.

Don't mind the junkyard next door. My white trash neighbor is running an illegal RV repair business from his home. I'd call the Zoning Dept. on him, but I still have to live next to him. :x

Not game warden. Was Coast Guard (13 years Active - 14 Reserve) and Sheriff's Office (27 years) From Deputy to Lieutenant, nearly all in the Marine Enforcement Division. Retired this past May.

Picked up my new 2016 Colorado on Tuesday. Replaced a 1998 Dodge Dakota. Only need to tow around 6 miles round trip so should not be a problem but haven't got the engine broken in to be able to tow. Sure does drive nice though.
