Numbers on my prop, what do they mean

#1 Post by midnight1957 » Tue Aug 09, 2011 7:02 am

I have the numbers off my prop, it is a 3 blade, what would a 4 blade do better or worse than my 3 blade?
Here are the numbers if someone would tell me what they mean I would certainly appreciate it.

48 85632 A40 11P

Thanks,
Wade

If there was no slip, which is never going to happen in water. So yes it is a 11 pitch, and would in the perfect world move you 11 inches every rotation. But again it will never happen in real life. You must have a small motor as I have a 12p on my 50hp mercury and it runs perfect on a 24 foot pontoon. How many Rpm's does your motor turn? are you looking to change prop's?

Here is you specs:

You have a 50hp and it has a 12p on it? I have a 21' PB that came with a 50hp and it has a 12"/9p on it, if you go to a site like Turning Point props when I put all the info in it recommends a 12.25/8p. With the stock prop and just daughter,myself,3/4 of a tank calm water/light headwind the boat will turn 20 via gps at 5500 boats tach. How does your run?

My 24 foot smokercraft with 4 people onboard and full of gas, food, water toys...ect will turn 5100 RPM's at 19mph with the 12 pitch prop. I have a new stainless steel prop that is a 9 pitch as recommended by mercury and it turns 5600 at 15 mph. Did I also tell you it is for sale or trade. The prop that is. It is a powertech 9 pitch for a pontoon boat. Just not enough for my 50hp in my boat. If you know anyone who needs this prop it is in the for sale forum. Oh and we anit no little folks either, my son is a high school football player and me and the wife are fluffy..LOL :)

Whats the diameter of your prop is it like a 10.75 or so. Just wondering as they list a lot of different pitches and diameters on the Turnung Point site. Better to get info from the real world rather than a web page. Thanks
