They're not designed to have air pumped into them. You could blow them up, actually: viewtopic.php?p=77083#p77083Fanatic1074 wrote:I thought i heard water sloshing around in one of my toons so i let the plug out in the back and to my surprise compressed air came out. I was told that it was not compressed... well i called a dealer and he said it will be fine and dont worry about it. Does everyone agree?
Also if thats the case can i fashion something to put air in it and maybe put like 5 or 10 PSI in the toons to increase floatation? If so does anyone have any ideas for putting air in from a standard air compressor?
Increase air pressure in pontoons?

Yep that was what I was thinking also. May get around to doing that some day. I used a bushing when I rigged up my test gauge for the schrader valve and the psi gauge.

Just use a few psi of helium.

Here ya go kids!!!
If you want to monitor it, add a remote monitor!!!
Cool Huh?
But before you buy, make sure it works at such a low pressure

Re: Increase air pressure in pontoons?
I open mine up in the winter when it is about 18 degree's outside. I reseal the plugs and leave them. In the summer I have about 3.5 P.s.i in both logs all the time as the air pressure increased with the warm weather. This provides me with 2 things. Protection against dents from hitting small objects and it all so will show me if I have a leak. When I pulled them out to replace the "BRASS" plugs I had in them since 2003, air came rushing out of them. They both were full. I went to the dealer and asked for some plastic plugs because I read where brass is very bad for the logs. They siad they didnt have any plastic ones instock and gave me some brass ones. I told them "NO" these are bad for the logs being a different metal so I wanted plastic or stainless steel. They lauged at me and said us the brass ones, you dont have any salt water around here and if we did get salt water the last thing you need to worry about would be the boat. I told them these have been in the boat since 2003 and look new. They said go put them back in it!!
So now I will pull them again in the winter and let mother nature pressurize them again in the spring.

I've looked for about 30 minutes but I can't find the video of the log exploding while being pressurized. I'm sure I saw it on here. Anyone got a link?
