Additional switch panel on console.

Now that I have used my aux switch for the depth finder, I was wonder if anyone has added an additional switch panel on their console. I have a 2000 Suntracker. I was thinking of adding the switch panel to support the docking lights and the under deck lights and maybe an additional switch or 2 for future use.

Not on my pontoon, but I added two switch panels to my Starcraft. I found complete panels with switches and labels on eBay...even had the Starcraft insignia on it.

Well....a few things come to mind.
How many switches do you need to add?
Are you planning on buying a OEM type panel?

Yep...it's all possible. Be very careful of your positioning. It is generally safe (more room) to place it on a side. Use 3M Blue on both sides of your cut to stave off any fiberglass chipping. Oh yea.......make sure to run the correct wire size.

3m blue tape. The longlife style masking tape, great stuff!

In response to the 3M tape. I go through rolls at a time. Easy to use and peels right back with no glue marks. I used it when I had to put in the new speakers on the boat.

As far as the additional switch panel, I have two open slots on the breaker panel under the console. I do not have the specs on the panel, but I am hoping to be able to place two addtional 20amp fuses in the two open slots. I will run the docking lights and the under deck lights on one fuse and use the other for the future.

My daughter likes the idea of the under deck lights. She calls it "pimping out the ride"
I think it will add a little style and also give me a little lighting when returning in the dark from the eateries on the inter-coastal.

I always thought neon lights under the boat would look cool at night but I never could figure out how to keep them from breaking...ok...now my younger stupid side is coming out.

As far as wiring, I added an extra fuse panel to my boat. I did this mainly to separate the guages and starter circuit from everything else when I added the second battery.
