Dock Shock?

Looks like it would be nice but way too expensive for me. Overton's sells a cheaper choice that looks almost like it.

Have used something very similar.....they are a PITA if you are using on a fixed dock. They will work OK on a floating dock, but not worth a flip on a fixed dock. I threw mine away and went back to bumpers as they were more hassle than they were worth........just my experience.

The Overton's device (http://www.stowawayholdaway.com) looks neat, but the fact that it is collapsible worries me. I have a floating dock, so the Dock Shock should work. I wonder if I could weld some fittings on the end of of heavy duty shock and get the same result?
