So how do you guys keep your log from all the stuff that keeps growing on the log , so I can keep my speed?

You must keep your boat in a wet slip like me. Algae always a big problem. I have my toons pressure cleaned 2-3 times a year. My Crest dealer is testing Aurora's VS721 to determine if it works as they claim. Mfg. says this product will keep growth off for a full season and it is evironmentally safe. Test results will not be complete until probably March. I am hoping for positive results.

Mines on a trailer so I don't have to worry about that, But the few times I have left it in the water for a few days I would run around it in shallow water with a rag and remove it.

I used SOS/Brillo pads on my old toon when it was kept in the water, worked well. I am sure the neighbors wouldn't have liked it very much especially the environmentalist.

Ive got a long handled floating brush.
I just float around the tubes, with a brew in hand, and scrub away at em every once n awhile....

OK, thats good for the out side , what about the inside of a strake? or inside of the logs 3 log.?Thanks .

I have a girl that comes in and takes care of the inside of my log, she uses a suction device and does a great job.

I don't think inside the strake would make any difference in speed for you. inside the logs for a triple toon (like I have also) On a relativly calm day, you can also go under the boat and rub them down. Always a good idea to have a spotter. i use the green scotch pads adn it really doesn't take a long time. plus, it's fun to get in the water and cool off.

Antifouling paint prevents 90 percent of marine growth. That, combined with a light bottom scrubbing every few weeks when the water temp allows me to jump in the water keeps my 'toons clean.

Antifouling's not just for saltwater environments either.

Beats any product claiming that they prevent marine growth, I've seen none that live up to their claims. Growth inside of the strakes (my boat doesn't have or need them), isn't going to effect perfromance in any way, besides most marine growth needs sunlight to grow. It's dark enough inside of hollow strakes to prevent it from getting out of control.

I remember one time I had the kids out fishing, and the fish stopped biting where we were, so we decided to move , so here I am at my top speed of 16 mph and I hear this tap, tap , tapping, I was thinking what could that be when I remembered the stringer of fish tied to the front so that means their fins were tapping on my toons, so I stopped right away and I had scales all over, you don't want fish to tap his fins on your toon's for sure , just make them a mess.

I found this site a while back and was curious enough to contact them. The unit for my boat was a little over $2000.00. For algae prevention you add chemicals to the water. They sale them or you can buy some from a pool store. I was concerned if there would be any reaction of the chemicals with the aluminum tubes. Plus how tuff are the inflatable sides.

Hadn't seen that one before, so your parking your boat in a floating swiming pool, and I guess you put something in there to stop groth on the toons.

That is a new 1 for me. if you could ,how can a person show a photo so you can see what I mean?

I also wipe my toons down in shallow water every other time I'm in the boat.

But, I also pull my boat out in mid summer, take it home and give it a thorough cleaning. I use wheel and spoke cleaner diluted at 50% and power wash it off. My toons are not polished and never will be...not enought return for the effort.

BMR, can you tell me more about the paint you mentioned? Is this like paint on a hull?

Same, but since you are applying it to aluminum and alot of bottom paint contains copper, you have to apply a barrier coat first.

Copper bottom paint actually accelerates corrosion on aluminum hulls, unfortunately it's the most effective in preventing marine growth.

My marina did it for me the first season, I touched it up last spring and will do it again for another season before doing another total repaint.

I used Interlux Primicon barrier coat followed by Interlux Micron CSC black.
