Good Tow Bar??? Turbo Swing?

#1 Post by TKtooner » Mon Aug 13, 2012 8:56 pm

Anyone have a Turbo Swing? My local marina sells these but I'm not sure about them? I pull mostly tubers and wake boarders. I have a 20' Sweetwater with a 90hp Yamaha and I'm worried that this tow bar will still be too low to the water and that I won't be able to really get the tubers swinging with this rig. Looking for input folks. Thanks!

We use a booster ball from Sports Stuff connected to a harness that hooks to both lifting rings on the back of each tube. Works mint. For tubers at least.

I'm looking for something of the same. Just went on turbo swing website and they have a boosterball connected behind it!

We use the booster ball too and it works great. But what I'm trying to accomplish is not having the connection point be on the toons. It's a pain trying to keep the ropes out of the prop on a breezy day and having to crawl around the back of the pontoon to get everything attached/un-attached whenever we want to switch from cruising to tubing to wakeboarding.

I went to their webpage and looked up the closest dealer
http://www.turboswing.com/usa/find+dealer/ (with a website)
Turned out to be

I told him I had a 90 hp on a Sweetwater 2086, he said I would need an XL
He has 1 in stock
good for 70-140hp $850
Installation would be another $90
For installation the bar uses 2 holes in the motor mount and then you have to drill 2 additional bolt holes in the transom
These units have been hard to keep in stock

He is the only one that has them, Premier is installing them 'factory direct', they come from the Netherlands
When I asked about he difference between using this and the pontoon tube eyelet lift holes, he said it was a little bit higher, but not much. He has been promoting, sportstuff turbo ball ($90) to keep the rope out of the water, he said it works good because it can 'roll' as the tube is swinging.

So then I tried a local dealership and completely struck out, not even a price estimate. He can get them, but he will not give me a price or a model number until I give him a VIN. He said he has to provide the VIN to the manufacturer so they can tell him which of their ski/tube bars will fit your hull configuration.

I would try a Sweetwater dealer before ponying up for the Turbo Swing.
When I had this problem, I built my own. But in the process I was also provided with this link. This ebay seller has a few styles for sale for much less, about $230.

I bought a ski bar off of ebay about $250. I just drilled thru the floor of the deck and used stainless bolts to bolt it on. The supports did not line up perfect, but I bent them close to where I could mount ti to the floor.

I'm not saying let's go kill all the stupid people.. I'm just saying let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem work itself out.

For that kind of cash I'd go with the aftermarket wakeboard tower I posted about last week.
