Help with Replacing Carpet
I have a 24 ft pontoon, my plan is to this spring replace the carpet. I went to the local lowes, and saw some carpet they had....although it wasn't "outdoor" carpet, it was commercial carpet. Its not a think carpet so it won't hold much/any water but what are the cons of getting this instead of tradtional outdoor carpet? Boy I can't wait to take everything off my boat to install this...FUN! Thanks for any help!

Re: Help with Replacing Carpet
I used similar carpet initially for my Starcraft (restoration pics on my site). It lasted about 8 years with no issues and that was with extreme abuse (it's a fishing boat). I replaced it with Nautolex last season though.

Re: Help with Replacing Carpet
I would think that it would be OK as long as it wasnt shag or something like that...and that it got dried out after you use your boat. It might shrink though depending what it is made of, Hey BMR did you have any issues with shrinking?
and Im talking about the carpet...

No...even after our stingray fishing trips and subsequent pressure washing. Those things bleed a jelly-like substance....ewwww.

Believe it or not they are excellent eating too. They taste like beef more than anything. I served a 35 lb. cownose stingray to friends over the summer and they raved about it. This one took about 40 minutes to reel in:
