Vinyl Wraps?

#1 Post by BiXLL » Mon Sep 03, 2012 3:17 pm

Considering doing a wrap on my boat. Problem for me is that I really do not want anything wild or extremly detailed, just something basic that would cover scratches and fading on my fence. Has anybody done this or know of a good place to order from?

Haven't done it myself but I have one designed with a company and they are just waiting on me to tell them to install it......you can have about anything you want printed on it the possibilities are endless. For my 24'er it's going to be about $1,400 bucks but to me it's worth it to be different.

I was going to get mine done, but my fence is ribbed. They can print anything from what I understand. I was going to go with something like this

That's what my plan was/is if I can find a place to wrap my ribbed fence. I'm hoping that I can spend 2-3k on a wrap and a tower and my 10yr old will shutup about wanting a "cool" boat.

On the video on how they make pontoons the manufacturer puts the decals on when the aluminum is still flat and then they run the aluminum through a machine that put the ribs on. I would not bet on putting it on an already ribbed lanel. Your best bet might be a painter that does graphics on cars and motorcycles.

I've seen some pretty cool stuff that was airbrushed. Wasn't crazy expensive either.

Maybe a DUMB question... but how do they get these "wraps" work ? Is it like industrial strength peel and stick ? Is it a DIY job or takes a pro ?? How do you get them off ??

Most of them are 3M graphics like you see on vechicles for advertisement. I think it would take some skill to install them without getting air bubbles, kinda like tinting your car windows.

you can call around sign shops, graphic design places, car paint shops in your area ask if they can or know someone thats in this field to make and install, mines in 3m i made the design myself then they done the rest inc boats reg numbers and names on the sides, took about 1 full day to install by two guys at shop, edges are sealed in a spray 3m so always stay down while being transported with high winds, they also give me a 10x10 sheet so if i ever needed extra for anything in future, to make all and install im thinking under 1200.

This is the design I've come up with....it's almost 100% finished. It will also have my reg#s and the boat name that's still undecided maybe (off da hook or backlashed) also planning on a big gold hook on the front gate....I wanted a graphic that had a wakeboard style with a fishing flair .

If you do a search someone discussed wrapping a pontoon. They were pretty thourough with the topic.
