Rough water trailer guides, installed

Just bought these from Overtons. Had to make shackles to fit the trailer, they came with 2X4 square bolts that wouldn't fit, of course. My trailer frame is 2X4. So I just custom made 4 lower brackets and used 8 1/2x6" bolts. I left about 1/4" on the sides and the top of them clear the underskinning by about 2 inches. Installation time was 1/2 BudLight with an air impact. Should work good in the Mississippi current and in strong gusts of wind... I hope!

Thought you might like to see them!

Nope, stole it off a Bass boat sittin in the Holiday Inn parking lot. You think Il'd pay Bass Pro Shops $196.00 plus $12.85 shipping for one! Ok, I did!
Only the best for my boats! Mac&Cheese for dinner and 2 year old sneakers, is all I need. But when it comes to the boat...
:bowdown

I have the same set, but I had to shorten mine. They work very well.

That may have been a typo. Im thinking that the line between the 1 and the 2 should not be there :drink4

Nice....

I may do the same, not necessarily for rough water but to help getting the arse end of the boat straight on the trailer. It seems so much harder with the 36" PTX than it was with my old 2 toon.

Exactly! That flat bottom wanders all over, doesn't it! Going out today, will let ya know how it works!

They worked great. had a about a 15 mph cross wind, got me a litle crooked lining up the front of the bunks. Gave the boat alittle starboard wheel and let the guides line it up. it straightened out perfect. Denise winched it up to the trailer stops and pulled it out. Straight as an arrow. No rockin it over to center.
I'm sold!

I was going to get a set of those but went with rollers instead. Not so much as to help me guide onto the trailer but to keep the rear end straight as I motor up to the bump stop. The rollers were useless for that. They just flex. Out of countless loadings, I've had to winch up at least half way every time because the back end will not stay straight.

Are those pretty solid? I was a little worried about those marring the tunes.

Very solid. I looked last night after I loaded it, just to check. I was worried about the black PVC covers leaving black marks. No marks at all from them. Nothin at all. But that was the first time with them on, too. As time passes, I can tell you better. Denise backed the trailer in until about 2 foot the front of the bunks were out of the water. The back guides were probably 8" out. It made it real easy, in the wind. Probably won't be able to see the guides when at the Lake of the Ozarks. The State Park Boat Ramp in Osage Beach is really steep, so it may be a bit more of a challenge.
