Anybody use a pressure washer on your carpet?
I'm not talking about slamming it, guys. Just thinking of using the 40 degree nozzle from a foot or two away to take out dirty spots and thoroughly cleaning. My underneath decking is plywood. I'm going to give it a good cleaning to put it up before winter this weekend, making sure to let it fully dry before covering. I guess the cons are primarily that it might take a really long time to dry completely, or is pressure washing any worse than a thorough soaking, provided I am careful as described?

You should be fine. It will do a good job, and will often clean some stubborn moldy spots too !

Re: Anybody use a pressure washer on your carpet?
Thats how I did the Manny, really brings back the nap in the carpet, too. I used LA Totally Awesome cleaner, mixed about 5:1 w/water in the pressure washer. When I did the carpet, I would do the inside and outside panels as well. I put the front down as far as it would go on the trailer jack, then start from the rear and work forward to the bow. Pushing all the soapy water right off the front of the boat, then rinsing it off in the same manner. Then park it outside in the sun with a fan blowing over it, to dry. Haven't had to do the Premier, yet. It still looks like new and it hasn't gotten spilled on yet. But, its day is coming!

All the time, never had an issue. I drop the hitch all the way to the ground and start at the back.

Just did it two nites ago with one of those rotating nozzles. I had places where the mold was almost solid, you couldn't see carpet. A little purple cleaner and the pressure washer and it was gone. I'm actually going to treat the carpet tonite with some mild bleach solution to hopefully help prevent the mold from growing again.

Re: Anybody use a pressure washer on your carpet?
some is good but more isn't always better.
i do it at least once a year to my carpet. i'll probably do the the mastercraft next year as well. i've tried all different methods including a house hold carpet cleaner. hands down the best is with a pressure washer. however, i got a little too aggressive with a few spots during my preseason cleaning and i brought up a few tufts/turns of carpet. i was able to glue them back down and they made it all summer, but i've learned my lesson. i'll still use the pressure washer, i just can't get too carried away.
fwiw, if you have mold/mildew in your carpet, i've found that pretreating with a dilute bleach solution seems to work the best for me. if you just blast it with the washer, you knock off the top layer but you haven't killed the base. the bleach will help you kill it before the washer knocks it out of the carpet.
i also use the washer on my fencing and i've found that on some of the really nasty parts of the fence, the pretreatment with bleach works very well.
as always, ymmv, and make sure if you are going to use bleach, pretreat a spot first to make sure you aren't going to end up with a "blonde" carpet.

Tried it for the first time in the spring. Worked great. I used it all over the boat. I was done in 1/4 the time I used to spend cleaning it by hand
