I am in the middle of turing a seat into a cooler and was wondering if theres something i can put on the hinges so they dont corrode from the water constantly on them.

Damn that was fast. The ones i heve are only a year old and were not cheap,so i will just paint them. Im not worried about the appearance but how well they will perform after awhile. Thanks

Kenny, clean them off good with denatured alcohol or whatever before painting. They probably came with some type of oil coating which won't let the paint bond well. Or just paint em, drink a beer, and the damn things will probably last 20 or 30 years even if you didn't do anything.

My dad use to have a slight acid wash that would strip off the corrosion from his aluminum boat, perhaps you could find something similar to use if it starts getting bad?
