Take it from a guy that was in your shoes - you need a bigger engine to reach true happiness!!! I had a 115 merc 4S, tried everything and never got more than 28 mph perfect conditions. Problem was perfect conditions didnt happen very often. Usually the winds were blowing and the boat was loaded down with people and gear. So even if I was happy with 28 on the best day, usually 24-25 was the true max and when loaded it was 22-23. Just not fast enough. Got to the point that I didnt want extra people on the boat because it slowed it down so much :x Went to a 150hp Yammy, and makes all the difference. Suddenly the prop , weather conditions, number of people etc dont matter, because I can still hit 35 all day long. Which is really faster than I need to go. But it is sure nice knowing you can, and you are running your boat at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle to cruise. :biggrin2

BTW bought the 2008 Yammy (176 hours and full factry warranty until Sept 2015) used for 8200 +300 shipping. My old engine with controls should bring 6000 plus (turned down an offer for 5G's) :bowdown :prayer . Add another 1000 for new controls/alum prop and rigging, and I am out of pocket about $3500. I only mention this because getting more power may be more affordable than you might think
