BBQ grill options or opinions??

Hey guys/gals new guy here. Just bought a toon last month and trying to get it ready for summer! I am trying to find a inexpensive (less than $100) alternative for a grill. I have seen the gas rail mounted ones but dayam they aren't cheap! I was thinking of mounting a small barrel type grill and making my own pedestal mount but I have a small concern for flying ashes and not being able turn of the fire in case of emergency. Anyone have this set up and experience any issues? I would also love to see some different options you guys use or suggestions. Thanks!

Welcome jsin, I don't personally have a grill on the toon cause we live on the lake and the Weber S-670 we bought does just fine, plus it won't fit on the boat. :D As far as using charcoal or wood, IMHO would be a BIG fire hazard.

Does that come with some sort of mount or did you make your own?

I just made my own. I got two U-bolts and four wing nuts, drilled holes in the grill bottom, and voila!! I leave it on the rail all the time, even while towing, but I can pop it off in 30 seconds to atke anywhere. I used to have an open face camping grill that I just put on the floor. But I had a 2 year old touch it and get burned. I like having it mounted out of the way. I put the cooler below it to use as a table and keep the little ones away. Have a look....

Nice fabrication. Which size gas bottle do you use? Look plenty sturdy,

Doc, I just use the small Coleman cylanders. They're easier to stowe and work just fine.

I bought a nice stainless steel one that has fold down legs and a mounting tab on the front for hanging it off my rails of my toon, cooked many hotdogs and sausages on it so far! Cleans up like new when it starts getting nasty and no rust! I will probably have it and use it in 30 years!

Make one its cheaper.

I bought a cheap grill at China mart, I mean walmart for like 20 bucks, and made a "T" rail holder out of aluminum tubing bought at lowes. It clamps to the railing and then tees off over the edge of the boat so greese and such can drip away. Its easy enough. Dont have any pics at the moment but making one like everyone else has is the best way. My total cost, about 30 bucks.

I forgot to mention pop rivits...they work great for small projects like this if you cant or dont weld aluminum....

I had a pedestal mount grill on my previous boat and had a big problem with grease on the carpet. My next one will mount to the rail and hang out over the water.
