I have a 1988 24' Harris Flotebote. Does anyone know what the max HP rating is for this boat? The plate is there but the print is mostly gone and cant read that part. Bout all I can make out is 16 passengers. Im kinda thinking that max hp is 115-120hp but I want to be sure.

Thanks!
D

Sometimes you can take a UV lite to see the old printing when you cant read it any other way.

Can always give them a call (260) 432-4555, or ask them on FB. I'm sure they would have info on it yet.

As a pure guess I would think no more than a 90 from that era. The shorter boats had a 75 limit.

Thanks guys, I called them and the guy i talked to had to do some checking and call me back. In the mean time, I tried the UV light trick and it sorta worked and I could make out 120 and the guy just called me back and confirmed that it was 120. Is got an 88hp johnson on it and I knew it wasnt maxed out but I had to find out for sure for my insurance company. I now know that I have the only 24' pontoon boat that has ever been insured  !

Thanks!

My 1985 24' Starcraft had a max of 115 hp. And the Yamaha 115 hp 2 stroke was a great motor on it. But Starcraft lied about the length, as it's not 24'.

By YOUR insurance guy. My insurance gal didn't think a 24' pontoon was unusual at all.

Im not saying that my guy thought it was unusual, they just ask too many stupid questions that you would think they would have an idea.
One question was "Does it have a motor?" My answer "at 24', that would be a damn big row boat!".

You know they can send you a new data plate, right?
Because my dealer added the third toon to my boat, the manufacturer sent me a new plate for free, with the revised numbers for a tri-toon.

I would think a115-150 would be fine. 24 foot16 person. I have a 23 foot and mine is rated150 max.

But your's is newer, which more than likely means, higer HP rating. It would be bad to assume that an older toon, especially one almost 30 years older, would have the same HP rating as a newer boat, of the same size. Older boats normally had about 2/3 the HP rating of a more modern toon, from what I've found.

I am surprised that his limit was 120hp. My 2005 Beachcomber has a limit of 115hp, at 26' long.
