IP camaras
A question for you guys, I have started hearing a lot of unusual noises here at my apartment at night. Haven't had any thing walk off yet but i would like to keep a eye on things and i have been looking at several of the inferred outdoor style IP cameras, i even ordered one from apexis and it was a piece of total crap, so it was sent back and now i am looking for one any suggestions, some thing in the 150 to 200 range with tilt and pan and zoom would be nice but not necessary.

I ordered a four HD cam system at Christmas from Sam's online for 200 bucks, I can see them ever where I go on the phone, plus it recording and you can even control playback from the phone from the DVR, the cams switch to B/W in the dark and the IR lights come on, even in a dark room you can see every thing in it

I use Foscam brand equipment and have never had a hiccup in the 15-16 months I have been using them in and around my house.(I use two as baby monitors in the two littlest ones rooms) I honestly don't know about the 200 foot mark on them, I know they are good for 75 feet easily in pitch black.

Re: IP camaras
Ditto on the Foscam. I've had one in operation at my lakehouse for a couple of years with no problems. I did have a challenge setting up "port forwarding" on my router to allow remote access, but it was more of a router issue than a camera issue. I think he ip cam cost around $100.

Re: IP camaras
I used to have a Foscam camera to keep an eye on my dogs in the back yard. I was very happy with it and need to get a new one since it died after about five years of being outside. I used the free WebcamXP software and used it on my web page so I could watch it from my phone. Well worth the $125 I spent. Was a little tricky setting up the port forwarding and the DNS forwarding to my web page.
Re: IP camaras
Thanks I appreciate it. I was looking at the foscams. I ended up ordering one and a outside enclosure.

Re: IP camaras
I had 6 D-Lnk cameras set up, but after 12 years they started quitting on me. I just started replacing them with Wans Cams. No bad night vision and ease of set up for cheap cameras. Time will tell how reliable they are. Very easy to configure with my Dyn service and Verizon router.

Re: IP camaras
I put D links up at a business i had a long time ago and they did a good job. Here we recently had some young kids move in and i suspect its just them making a racket, but i have way to much invested in my car, truck and boat to leave it to chance.

Re: IP camaras
We are very rural, 3 times in the last couple of years I've had guys walk up my driveway and say they either ran out of gas and one pulled all the way up to my boat and was looking around. Same guy was arrested for metal thefts months later. All 3 times I met them outside with the Remington 870.
haven't had any problems in awhile

You will not be disappointed in the FosCam. I have 4 of them, one outside in an encloser. I have it mounted on a 28' tower and has been there for 4 years. I also have a QNAP NAS and record video when I am away from home, and I can watch them using my Android phone. Once in a while I do have to reboot them. Not sure why and it is not often. Maybe two three times a year at most.MH Hawker wrote:Thanks I appreciate it. I was looking at the foscams. I ended up ordering one and a outside enclosure.
