Just wondering if anyone here has tried the Clorox outdoor bleach for cleaning your seats. A guy at the local marina here tells me that it does so well thats all they use now. Environmentally safe and won't bleach out the carpet if mixed like the label says. Thanks for any replies in advance.

Welcome BigBlue glad to have you on board!!!
What's on the seat your trying to clean,if it's mildew pick up some Jo Max on Home Depot to mix with the Clorox to kill mildew.
If it's just dirt a lot of people like the magic eraser .
But hell my toon so old if I don't have dead fish on the deck it's clean

so I let the clean nuts help you with the rest, and glad to have you with us, OH we love pictures of pontoons

Thanks for the reply, Herb. I just bought this one and the previous owner let it set under a tree for a couple of months uncovered. It has black tree "stuff" all over it. I used a magic eraser on a small section and it did great but it was so abrasive I was worried that I may do some damage if a scrubbed too hard. By the way, its a 2000 Party Barge Regency (22 footer) with a 90hp Mercury. Its not been in the water in several years, as the previous owner had it in storage until he decided to move it to his house under a tree. Before I hit the water I've got to drain all the old gas out and clean it up. I will post pics after I get it into shape. Does anyone have any idea what kind of speed I'll be lookin at with this combo? Thanks again!

My 20 footer with a 91 Evinrude 50 on it will hit 16 mph GPS, so you should be good for 24 mph or so depending on the load and prop.
As for the leaves I try the job max and clorox, as leave and water will make a mildew or stain.
Mine has been sitting for the last 2 years as I been to busy trying to keep busy, that and the fuel prices last year were killing me bad enough without using the toon, so I had to use the pressure washer on the carpet twice after using the Jo-max and clorox and letting it soak for a while, but watch using a pressure washer on the seats, you can do it but watch how close you get or you can damage the seats or fabric.
Now on my carpet I use a turbo tip which will tear up a the surface of a 2x4, but I keep it at 6 inches or higher and it doesn't hurt the carpet.

Before I would use a bleach product I would call the Co. first. It may clean well but what damage to vinyl and stitches in seams will it cause. A really good cheap cleaner is LA's Amazing cleaner You get it at Dollar stores for a few bucks.
What ever you use follow with 303 Vinyl Protection.
I recommend "ROLLOFF for all boat cleaning. It is available at Boaters World and Auto Geek.com

Hey Big Blue we have a 20' with a 90 and get about 24 out of it with a day room on it. To keep it clean we use totally awesome diluted (.99 a bottle) then protect it with 303. Welcome

My old toon that I sold last year had white interior. I used Comet, Clorox (diluted) and a few other things that I should not have. When I sold the boat, I figure that cost me about 2000 to 2500 in resale. The stitching had come apart in several places and the vinyl began to crack. This didn't happen overnight but began to accelerate the last year of ownership. I would use regular upholstery cleaner and work up from there. No more Clorox or Comet on the new boat. Good Luck.......

Thanks for all the great info. I need all the help I can get. Has anyone had any experience with Simple Green? It sounds really mild on the label so I thought maybe I wouldn't have to worry about the carpet as much. I'm looking forward to getting it done this weekend and hopefully post some pics.

read the fine print on the simple green website. as i recall it attacks aluminum. it was always a definite NO to use on aircraft.

Rolloff and the LA cleaner both work really well. I haven't found anything that Rolloff won't make a pretty good dent in.

after reading all the posts i could find on this subject, i took the plunge and used a 10% bleach solution and a home sprayer and a scrub brush. worked well for cleaning the vinyl. we'll see over time about the stitching. i don't plan on doing this on a regular basis. what pushed me over the edge to use the bleach was that all of the commercial products for removing mildew use bleach but cost way more. after i used the bleach solution, all the seats got alot of water as well to rinse them.
