Another neophyte researching toons

Howdy folks,
My brother-in-law and I are on the brink of purchasing a toon.
I have been in boats all my life, but only in a toon 2 or 3 times as a passenger.
We are interested in fishing and pulling the grandkids on a few water toys.

The Harris 230 fisherman has caught our eye.
We were thinking of a 150 4-stroke and the 2' bow extension.

Any thoughts?
Other boats or engine preferences?

We are in Georgetown, Texas and will be trailering to local lakes.

thanks,
Paul

Welcome , glad to have you with us, there is not a better boat to fish with the kids than a toon as you can spread them out and it like standing on a dock you can get to them to help.

Engine I would say an E-Tec 2 stroke, be lighter, faster, low pollution and good fuel mileage, but the main thing is you don't have to change oil where your using it or not.

Toons vary widely as I am sure you have found depends on more fishing or more playing. We mostly play on ours, so no actual fishing chairs. I feel safer being able to motor with kids inside the pen, and not have to worry about em getting tossed out.

Welcome!

All my fishing seats are in the pen, I have to fight to keep them out of the front seats becuase it makes me plow the water, but if I'm putting around I let them sit in the front fishing seats.

Another great thing about a toon you can change it to suit you, I have an older one and the funture was gone so I switched to lawn furnture so I can have the seating nessary for the trip, if we just riding around I can load the deck with seats, if I'm fishing I can clear the deck for fishing.

get the longest boat you're willing to trailer
and the biggest motor you can afford.
no one ever wishes they had bought a
smaller motor.

Yes, get the biggest motor you can afford... I really like the 20-22 ft range, I would look for a three toon model if you can find one.

The biggest thing to remember is to get your butt out and use it often (I am going to try to make up for last year in this dept)

Glad you found us, stick around and have fun... :dance
