Alabama tornadoes

I keep my pontoon in a covered slip at a campground/marina on Lake Guntersville, AL. Friday afternoon a tornado came through.I took cover in a block bathhouse when the tornado sirens sounded. At another campground/marina just 5 miles upriver there were million dollar homes with the walls blown down, many lake houses with only the foundations left. boathouses lying in splinters and floating in the river, several boats turned upside down in the water, 4 travel trailers blown out of the campground and into the river, trees uprooted and laying on top of trailers and motor homes. Most of the boat in slips in the marina were spared damage. I had no dea there was so much damage until I drove to the marina in my boat and saw the destruction. I had planned to fill my tank with gas but the electricity was out and there was no power to the gas pump. Amazingly, there was only one injury and no fatalities amidst all of this tornado damage. There was no damage at all where I keep my boat but viewing this made me think about the fact that I keep my boat and my park model camper and its contents insured for their full replacement value as well as maintain liability coverage. So many people lost everything they had in the campground and marina and were lucky to escape with their lives. I expect most people who saw what I saw today would rush out to buy insurance tomorrow if they do not already have coverage.

Glad your ok Ken. Living in Tornado ally myself and having survived one when I was a kid before radar and all the warnings they have now was quite the experience.
