JC 25F 2005 New to Me Need Cover Advice

#1 Post by mike37909 » Mon Apr 13, 2009 11:19 am

I recently bought my first pontoon boat. It is a 2005 JC 25F Neptoon. It has fishing seats outside the playpen rail in the front and back. I have an uncovered dock and a mooring cover. The mooring cover is real nice but doesn't cover the front and back ends. When it rains the water runs under the gate and soaks the floor of the whole boat. It also wont dry because it has a cover on it. Any ideas on how to cover the ends? I can get a custom cover but its like 200 dollars per end and will probably be hard to put on from the water. Any drawstring type covers available for this purpose? I would imagine I am not the first person with this problem.
Any thoughts or comments appreciated. I love my new boat but dont want it to rot.

Mike

It's strange that the cover wasn't made to cover those areas. Mine is simliar in the front to yours. I will post a couple of pictures of mine I just went out and took. I would think you could have your altered to cover the front and rear. Not sure what the cost for this would be. I got mine free as part of the deal but I believe they said it was a $500 value. I'm lucky that my dealer has his own canvas shop.

Thanks for taking the time to take the pics. I may have to just bite the bullet and have my cover modified or get a new cover. I will have to take the boat to the guy so he can make it and install the snaps. It had crossed my mind to get camper enclosure of some sort for fishin in bad weather.

The camper enclosure may be your best option although I know they are costly but would probably extend the months of usage during the year. After market vents (the type that attach to support pole) might help the drying process but wouldn't solve the other issues. If your are interested in staying on the boat overnight, I would opt for the camping enclosure rather than putting 3 to 5 hundred in another cover. Had an aftermarket, drawstring cover on the old toon, guess it was okay, sort of heavy and a chore to put on, but it did cover the entire boat, think I gave about 300 or so for it. Good Luck
