Launched and Recovered for the first time yesterday...

#1 Post by beermunk » Sat Apr 18, 2009 7:00 am

I'd say all in all it went very good. I was able to get the boat in, started, unhooked and had the wife hold the two port lines and my truck parked within 10 minutes. The only initial trouble I had was SEEING where the damn ramp was as I was backing up. I'm not used to backing down hill with such a behemoth behind me. I need to get some tow mirrors for the Titan!

Recovery was just as easy - I couldn't believe I lined it up on the bunks the first time! My only issue was bumping the tires up against a large rock our Parks Dept decided to use as road markers as I made a steep turn out of the landing. No damage though that I could tell - just tire rubbing. Oh and the trailer brakes stopped a little jumpy after they got out of the water. AND I had a light out when I got home even though I disconnected the light system before putting it in. I think it's time to make the switch to LED's - anyone have a brand they've used and can recommend?

congrats on first launch. When we launch I lower the tailgate for Betty as she don't use mirrors much and she can see under the boat. You may be able to do the same.

Try backing a Party Cruiser down a ramp once or twice... :tofunny As for LEDs, most made these days work well. I bought a set on eBay a few years back and they worked fine until some dumbass (brother in law) tried using it as a step to climb into the boat. Wal-Mart has complete sets with marker lights now.

If I had a nickel everytime I heard someone say (after breaking something) "I'll pay for it"...and never did/does, I could afford a new set of BMR Fins.
