I have the MinnKota Pontoon 55lb trolling motor on one 12v battery.

Works unless the wind is up, but if the forecasts are 15-20 or higher, I'm not out anyway.

The motor works great in timber areas and around the slips.

It also works great as a Bow Thruster when trying to get the boat into the slip and the Kansas wind is trying to push the nose of the boat out of line.

If I were doing it again, I'd go with a higher thrust capacity.

I also have a 55 lb thrust with two batteries in parallel. My power is adequate in winds I will fish in. But like was said before. If I replace it I will go to an 80 with 24 volt system. preferably an I pilot / pilot link.

I just saw you noted a 9.9HP motor. Do you have a Kicker mounted on your pontoon? If so, how do you have it mounted?

I welded a kicker bracket to my pontoon tube, I've also made one that attaches to the last few cross members for a friend. I fish a lake that's over 30 miles long so hung a kicker on it for a backup motor but I ended up using a lot for trolling. It steers with a crossbar linked to the main motor and the control box is mounted below my main controls. The 9.9HT works quite well, trolls down to 0.9mph and will push the toon @ 7-8mph as a backup motor. My main will only troll down to 2.2mph and is very touchy on the throttle setting.

I have a Minn kota Terova 101 lb thrust, 36 volt trolling motor with autopilot, co-pilot wireless remote system, quick release bracket, extra prop and all standard options. I used it on my 24' Manitou for one season before trading boat in. It moved the boat around effortlessly!

If anyone is interested, $1000.00 and its yours! This is a top of the line Minn Kota trolling motor with a 60" shaft.
