Its time!!

#1 Post by mike » Fri Apr 24, 2009 10:58 am

Last night I pulled the cover off the toon and started her up, one of the batterys still had enough juice to turn it over and she started right up! Both of my tire stems were rotted out so I had to get both tires over to les shwabs for new stems (tires are new, weird that they didnt replace the stems). Our first time on the water is scheduled for sunday, I cant wait! :dance

I still need to get my tags renewed and pick up a fishing licence, then dig up some worms and break out my fishing gear and I will be ready to go! :guitar

Today was near 80 here and the next 4 days are going to be near 90, we'll be out on the water of course and hopefully these temps will warm the water up enough to go in soon :)

Mike, you got my attention. That is a generator? Where did you buy it?

Ours will be on the water this Wednesday if we don't get the rain that's in the forecast. I tried to get it on there Sunday but didn't get all the cleaning up done. Our marina has been open since April 16th.

I'll post up a pic with it at the dock when I get it in there.

The generator is a Kipor KGE1000, I bought it on clearance at harbor freight a couple years ago for $279.00 (I actually bought three, but sold the other two to my dad and cousin). Its SWEET, its an inverter model that puts out 1000 watts. Perfect for lights and little stuff (even runs a small window AC I have)

My other generator is the Champion 3500 watt that I got from kragen auto for about the same price, its not an inverter but its a Honda clone that starts on the first pull every time and has a 240 outlet...

The bad news, the weather is supposed to stay cool for a while so I may have to wait ANOTHER week before I get in the water :storm

The Kipor was a sweeeeeet competitor to the Honda's! :lala
Unfort the price has risen on them making the deal still good, but less sweet...
I too have a Champion 3500.
That thing Rocks! :guitar
While its not an inverter type genny (RPM moves up n down due to demand), its still one of the quietest in its nitch, and within State Park regs.
Also, it has a 30 amp RV plug right on the side and will crank your a/c when its 100 degrees out all fricken day, no problem... :nana

I actually had a KGE3500 kipor with electric start but didnt feel it was worth the $700 price difference between it and the champion so I sold it. It was quiet at idle but just as loud under large loads...

I like that the champion is so simple and based on a proven engine, just be sure to adjust your valves at 100 hours...
