Pontoon Boat & Deck Boat Forum

Hi all just bought my first boat a new Avalon 22ft Tropic with a 90 VTEC Honda. I need advice on how to tie up my boat to our dock. It does get windy here in MI on our lake. Spent my money on the boat and motor none left for a lift. I purchased some flat bumpers for the dock poles and 3 odd shaped solid plastic fenders for the pontoon itself. My dock is made of viny l 4ft wide and L's out at the end of it's 50 ft length. I am going to put the pontoon on the opposit side of the L.The long straight side. Any advice welcome. Posting a picture of your dock will help.
Is if floating or stationary?
What direction is the wind in relation to the dock, usually?

Sort of in the same situation. Like I said in the does anyone use mooring whip thread tires covered with canvas is a cheap way to go an worked for me for a long time. Think the lifts were running about 12k when I last checked in this area. Plan to get one if I build on the property but right now that's on hold. The whips probably work well but sort of reminds me of a shrimp boat sitting at your dock. Guess mooring buoys would be another option, if the water isn't too deep to attach them to the bottom

i have the same problem- no money for lift at this time- what about mooring whips? i think i may have to get some
