riding low
My boat seems to be fairly low in the water and it seems to have a hard time cutting. Does this mean I have water in the logs or is this fairly rare?

What are the specs on your toon? How long, how many logs, what size logs, how much weight do you have loaded?

Re: riding low
I posted earlier under “log spray issues†and am trying to diagnose performance problems. Recently went from a 40hp Tracker to a 60 4strk Merc thinking it would get me up on top of the water a bit better. While it does move faster, at full throttle, water comes off the interior spray fins hitting the floor and up through the carpet. It is riding a bit lower in the back (due to the larger engine) but doesn’t seem a lot lower overall when looking at the previous water lines on the tubes. Is the spray issue due to the larger motor and could I just bend the fins down to solve the problem or do I have a bigger issue? Thanks much!

Re: riding low
We need pictures of it sitting in the water, if your plowing or pushing water with front toon you have to much weight up front, under skinning will take care of the splash coming through the carpet, we all get water splash from the toons.

Re: riding low
If you have a trailer, do the slosh test. Back the boat and jump on the brakes, if you have water in there, you will hear it. Helps to have someone walk along the side while doing this, even a small amount of water can be heard. Don't think I would try and bend the fins. Positioning most of the weight near the rear should help some on the plowing.

Re: riding low
I think most of your spray problem is from bigger engine. With the 40 you just plowed along not pushing much water out. Now you have more power and more speed so more spray and being thrown farther. Bending fins won't help much and might crack if you try.

Re: riding low
Remember that if your fuel tank is on one side of the boat, it'll lean that way in the water when it's full.

Re: riding low
Don't Tap Fins make the problem worse ? All those holes from sheetmetal screws cause leaks....
