Your problem is in the prop... I have been from a 19 pitch to a 13 pitch and everything in between, stainless, aluminum, 3 blade, 4 blade... When I first got my boat, a 23 foot xcursion with a 115 yammy, they had a 17 pitch prop on it and it would cavitate like a mofo... couldn't trim at all, tried a 16 stainless and it worked better but still no trim or it would spin out... down to a 15 aluminum and it was better again, we could now trim just a hair but if you turned to hard it would cavitate bad... finally went to a 15 aluminum 4 blade spitfire, worked way better, could prolly trim about 1/4 up with 2 people on the boat, held better in corners too. This year I went to a 13 pitch 4 blade spitfire, I actually gained about 4 mph, got my rpm up to closer to where it should be and now with 2 people on the boat I can trim up to 3/4 trim and hit 29mph on a calm lake at 5900 rpm... I don't know about others but I can physically feel and hear the difference in the boat when it is trimmed up, it makes a big difference...

And I don't know about most pontoons using a 25inch leg, xcursions use a 20 inch leg, I went through this when i first got my boat too, I thought it was an engine/leg size issue too... but its amazing what the right prop can do...

On a side note the first 2 seasons of prop testing and thinking i had engine/leg problems my boat was only a 2 toon, last year was the first season on the tritoon with the same engine, and this year is the best I have ever had it running and it is all due to the prop.

Much more to look at in the pontoon boat arena. May want to make them swap the boat out for you.
My xcursion, and buddy's south bay, and other buddy's sylvan all have the fuel tank mounted there, I am pretty sure that is the most common spot for mounting the fuel tank...

there are more issues than just hooking up. The current transom will not allow for tilt more than 30% and will not allow the motor to sit lowered all the way. That is why I engineered the new arms for the steering. Now tilt is 80% and the motor is at the bottom......but that was a FIX not a solution and it still caveated. The 15' boats come with a re-engineered transom that lowers the motor 4-5 inches and allows for 100% tilt. Obviously this boat was not the only one with this issue or they would not have created a re-design of the pod.

So I called Tracker and opened a service issue. I'll post the results when I find out what they intend to do to rectify the problem.

They would either give me the new design transom or longer shaft motor or they would get the boat back.

Well, heard back from them.....they are cutting the V fin off the current transom and adding a 4 blade spitfire prop. Should know how this works by Monday. Pretty sad that a company this large just doesn't say " here's the 3rd pontoon your missing with the updated transom...thanks for the 40k"
but I guess you have to follow protocol. This will be the last attempt before all hell breaks loose.

HAHAHA!!!! well, I can't cut anything off that's for sure. If I cut the transom they would say....warranty void. They can do what ever they want as long as it gets fixed and doesn't cost us money. Hope this works. Getting sick of this broken boat stuff. They are still saying that being able to raise and lower the bow with the trim is not a concern, not all boats(with 2 pontoons) can raise and lower the bow. I find this hard to believe. I know others with tracker pontoons with serious power almost blowing over backwards.

Boy I would sure like to try one thing at a time.
Maybe cut the V off the back and send you to the lake with a Spitfire ready to be installed.
That way you know what fixed the problem, The V removal or the Spitfire.

So the Spitfire prop did not arrive for the weekend but I was able to use the boat with the V wing cut off from the transom. No cavitation. The current 15X15p prop is too large as the WOT is 5100rpm. I hope the Spitfire raises my Rpms, or it will be a re-propping issue. They actually raised the motor by 1 hole after the wing removal. Thanks to TLOWRY for the advice, I couldn't cut it because of warranty, but they could. Ill let you know what pitch gets me 6k rpms.

Glad you are getting things sorted out. Once you get the RPM up into the operating range, I think you'll be a happy camper.

I can tell you that many Sweetwater owners with 27" tubes have had same problem. Placing engine as low as it could go did not correct. Fixed by putting shaft extender on, however may now be too low-lost 6.5 mph on top end. Plan on discussing with dealer, but speed isn't as important as correcting the problem was to me.

What are you talking about? where else would you put the gas tank. all large pontoons have them in the same place.

That in itself is a very big bonus to me with my 18 foot pontoon as it has a 32 gallon tank which gives it a very long set of legs without giving up any square footage to fuel tanks. Also with the gas tank so to speak in the water it is not adding the entire weight of the fuel to the boat which it would if it were up on deck.
