Homemade Fishing Seat Pedestal for Pontoon Boat

Hi, folks. My husband and I have been trying to come up with an approach to fishing seats for our pontoon for a while. We have a 2005 JC Suntoon 23TT tritoon. Our boat is not a fishing setup. It has the wonderful couches, which works great when we're at home in Indiana and have lots of family we want to take out. However, when we winter at Lake Okeechobee, we want to fish. We're both big, tall folks, and we were struggling with an approach to fishing seats that would create tall, sturdy seats that we could remove.

We purchased two Wise High Back Big Man's Fishing seats and then tried to create bases that would be heavy enough to sit still but not so heavy that we couldn't lift them on and off the boat. We also wanted to make sure they wouldn't tip over. My husband isn't always steady on his feet, and Lake Okeechobee is full of alligators. So, we didn't want him falling into the lake!

Here's the result. We ripped some leftover 2x12s down to 3.5" by 36" for my husband and to 2.5" by 36" for me (he's taller and needed the seat slightly taller). We put 3/4" plywood across the top and added a Wise 13" fixed mount pedestal. at the top end of the pedestal, we added a seat swivel. We attached a 3/4" piece of plywood to the bottom of the seat and then screwed the seat swivel to the plywood. The seat is 20.75" wide (I think the other Wise fishing seats are 16-17" wide).

We're thrilled with the result!

Great ideal!......We live 45 minutes from Okeechobee in Lake Placid....

Last year was our first year wintering down here. We made our way to Lake Placid a couple of times! This will be our first year having a boat down there!

OK I was expecting to see home made seats. The pedestals look like they will work

They will fit by any of the three gates on the two sides or the front.
