My boat has a snap down cover that's held up by little poles like some kind of tent when its on the boat. As I'm sure many of you also have.

So have any of you pulled your boat with the boat cover still on? I'm not planning on doing it. It would be too much trouble to deal with, once I got to my destination. I was just curious if anyone does it though.

When going out of town for a few days I usually put the cover on mine. Just snap it down and secure the poles up tight from under the cover. I've driven up to 80mph with no issues. It keeps the bugs off, keeps it dry and protects from the sun.

I got the snap on cover made just so I COULD travel with the cover.

They warned me at the dealership not to. They said something like "People do it, but we don't recommend it. All it would take is one gust of wind to get up under there."

I'd like to have the option to pull it with the cover, even if I don't want to do it very much. For things like long trips, or towing it to the dealer or something.

I guess it would depend on how the cover is attached, as in how close the snaps are. I've towed mine up to 75 MPH and it doesn't even flutter.

I do recommend getting a snap tool and using it every time. Then the snaps or the fabric around them won't fatigue and possibly fail down the line.

Well as you can see from these pics, the front of mine is a little different. I'm concerned about that saggy part that covers the front gate. It only has 4 snaps holding it down. Two at the very top, and two at the bottom. Nothing along the very bottom, where you see the black trolling motor cover. So that part is just flapping in the wind the whole time. Not sure that would stand up to 65mph, which is the fastest I'm willing to pull the boat in my 87 silverado. Might go a bit faster when I get an F250 next year.

I bought one off of amazon after I saw your first post about it. Seems like a worthwhile buy.

You guys think maybe velco could help me with the flappy front gate part? I was thinking maybe put some velcro on top of that black trolling motor mount cover, and then attach some velcro onto the bottom of the flap.

Don't know if it would stand up to 65mph though. Looking for some ideas to make that flap a bit more stable at the bottom. The front gate sort of reinforces it, from about the middle of the flap, to the top. But from about halfway down, to the bottom by the trolling motor mount, its pretty loose.

Well I'm about to pull it from Fort Worth TX to Branson, Missouri. Looking at the pics, do you guys see any reason I shouldn't pull it that distance? At highway speeds. 65-75mph. Its 450 miles.

If I ever need another cover, 'down the road' ... I'll get one made like BoatCop's. Mine doesn't extend down to the deck in the front, making it "non-roadable."

before you tow with the cover on price a replacement, and if you have 1000 to 1500 to piss away have at it

Pontoons have the aerodynamics of a block of wood. Mooring covers are not designed for trailering.

My OEM Bennington mooring cover cost about $1500. It's not worth losing in a gust of wind.

We had ours towed by a contractor for 300 miles after the purchase. Both the dealership and the towing contractor said they would absolutely not put the cover on before towing.

I know there are people that do tow with the cover on, but as someone else on here said, my dealer told me they didn't recommend it.. As Bama said, they're too expensive to take a chance like that...
