Pontoon length - an exercise

Perhaps I am the only one who took 'pontoon length' at face value. I have a 20' Sweetwater pontoon. Upon measuring I discover that the actual deck is 18' and the pontoon is 19'. The motor pod sticks out from the back of the pontoons another 12-15 inches.
Have you actually measured your pontoon to compare to the advertised length? I would be curious to hear from others to see how other manufacturers advertise / actual their pontoons.

Just about all manufactures seem to do this, I've definitely noticed it on Premier and Bennington pontoons I've looked at but it varies by model. The "Value" lines seem to go by total length and the higher end lines are deck or tube length. In the old days it was 99% of the time the tube length on most brands but with 19-21" diameter tubes the decks were usually MUCH shorter than the tubes unlike today's pontoons. Todays 21' may have a lot more "deck space" than a classic 24' had.

purdy sure its the length from bow stem to stern and that is the very back even if its only the back of the motor.
Mine originally was a 21 its now a 23.6

I have never really measure mine. But, I do have a 28' slip for a "25' boat" and the motor is just under cover with the nose just even with the end of the slip.
When I was boat shopping, I was looking at 26 footers. When I narrowed down the two options, I brought out a tape and had to go to a 25' model because of the actual length not model length.

Pontoon manufacturers like to advertise their length like men that claim it longer than reality.

My SunTracker is 22'....that includes the motor mount.

Odd? My 18 foot Sun Tracker pontoons are listed at 18' 4" and the deck is just a few inches shy of the pontoons. The overall length is listed at 20' and that seems about right if one includes the motor pod itself.

Mine is a 2250 GSR with extended bow and stern. A 22ft model with toons actually 25'10" long.
