Forgot oil in premix question

So we went down to lake on Saturday and right when we get there the neighbor asks me what happens if someone forgets to put oil in his premix. :boohoo :x He said he had 7 gallans already in tank with mix. Filled up with 20 more, and kids screamin and long line behind him so he caps up. Then drives to boat launch and runs off and on for 4 hours. Said he didn't notice any difference except for it being hard to start once, but started 3rd turn and ran for an hour after that WOT. He drops berths off at dock and gets back in line. then all of a sudden he remembers and adds half gallon to whats left of 10 - 15 gallons. Putts around while waiting for his turn to load and still running fine. He was to scared to muff it on Sunday before we left for our lake trip (pics to follow in pic forum) What do you guys think did he smoke it? by the way new avatar is our new setup :guitar

The tendency when adding oil yourself is to over oil. Most of the time your mix is too rich--esp when you dont fill up an empty tank. If you add 5 or 7 or 10 gal you eventually wind up with a rich mix.

Hopefully the 7 gal was rich enough to mix ok with the raw gas and not fry the engine. Sounds like no indication engine tried to freeze up. Good luck..

hmmm, does he know he's legally required to bring that up if and when he sells it?
probably not something he should be asking everybody about.
