Battery Switch Installation

My 2015 Sweetwater 2086 has one battery.

I am thinking of installing a second unit that will allow me to alternate battery usage. This of course would necessitate the installation of a battery switch.

My battery is in the changing room and there is room for a second battery.

I am sure others on the forum have done this in the past and I am wondering if it is an easy task or difficult? Also wondering if Perko is the premium brand or is there another manufacturer I should consider? I did see Perko offers a switch that can be locked which is a nice feature.

Appreciate any feedback

Yes it is an easy process just follow the directions with the switch you purchase.

A switch will do its job well, but depending on how you're planning to charge them, you might consider something like the Blue Sea Add A Battery. It incorporates an Automatic Charging Relay to permit charging both batteries while underway or with an offline charger. You could do this manually with the switch, but you have to remember to change it back to one battery when you stop. If you're already adding a battery and switch, the ACR is very simple to add to the installation to make it more convenient.
