Dbl bimini top zipper/no zipper
Dbl bimini top I am having a double bimini made for my PB 24
It will a 54" tall frame and 8 feet long and a 4 bow with 1 1/2 " square tubing. Upholstry shop called and gave me the option of installing a zipper or not. His personal choice is no zipper He advised much easier to put up and take down, because its a 54" high frame its hard to reach unless your 7 feet tall . Any feedback on this greatly appreciated tnx to all 53 powell

Here's mine... overlapping....
the seating area of my pontoon is about 20', and most days on the lake, we need both tops; if it's just the three of us, we only put up one....
the rear bimini is 10' long, and the front is 8' long, they overlap - don't have to fool with zippered section....
I'm selling both, so i can get a electric 10' top... i usually use both,

Re: Dbl bimini top zipper/no zipper
I have two single biminis instead of a double, and its not that big of a deal in the boat. The zippered look is sleeker/better from outside the boat in my opinion, but I have not had even a minute where I wished that I had a zippered double rather than twin singles.

We've got a double with the zipper. I think it looks better. For us it's no big deal to zip up or take down. I'm barefoot in the boat and don't mind standing on the seat to get it started.

Valet37 - Did you get your front bimini from Godfrey or did you have it made locally? I have a '15 Sweetwater 2086 and we'd like to have the front one added on.Valet37 wrote:We've got a double with the zipper. I think it looks better. For us it's no big deal to zip up or take down. Re: Dbl bimini top zipper/no zipper
My factory double binimi zips together. If the bow is raised, it must be zipped. To raise, loosen the back bimini, zip the bow and stern biminis together, then secure both front and rear to the rail. Easy to do. Makes for a nice, taught fit that does not make noise in the wind. I keep a small, folding, $20 plastic step to help reach the zippers. An expandable boat hook is useful to manage the frame. At it's peak, my bimini is totally out of my reach and I'm 6'.

We bought it with the double bimini from Godfrey. Does your back bimini already have a zipper for the middle zip-in panel to connect both the front and back bimini's?ralph wrote:Valet37 - Did you get your front bimini from Godfrey or did you have it made locally? This picture is from the dealer. It looks bad because the dealer zipped in the middle panel backwards when he was trying to show me what it would look like. You should be able to get a feel for it though. When it's zipped in correctly it looks like a continuous bimini that covers the entire boat.

Re: Dbl bimini top zipper/no zipper
If it's a Godfrey (Sweetwater 2015) they only make full Bimini for limited models.
They were talking about making for more model but don't think it's happen yet.
I had my retailer custom make a front and back extension for total of three.
I believe retailer may have got the framing from Godfrey, at least they said they were going to.
In any case the front addition covered 2/3 adding the third in the back made it full coverage.
I really only needed the added back bimini because I fish a lot.
The back section ended up costing just as much as the front add on.
There is a seller on Ebay that will make a custom setup with only two for full coverage (reasonable price too).
My retailer didn't want to go that route. Anyway I'm very happy having the three now.
