Camping enclosure

#1 Post by 61chevy » Mon Feb 01, 2016 1:20 pm

Does anyone know of a canvas company in central Arkansas that can fabricate an enclosure. My wife and I made one last summer out of tent fabric and clear vynil that attaches to our top with Velcro. Works good but interested in possibly getting one made. Thank you for any input.

Thank you Reiner. We did consider that enclosure but if we could have one made around the Bimini we can sleep on the seats and have easy access to the console.

I don't recall any such canvas company around Little Rock. You might check the yellow pages for ten and awning companies.

There are some such companies experienced with such enclosures in Southern Ohio. Full enclosures when purchased through your manufacturer may be in the $4,000 range. I'm sure an independent awning company can make one a little cheaper, however they're not inexpensive. It's doubtful if high speed cruising works with a full enclosure.

We plan on doing some Summer long distance river cruising on the Tennessee River. Fortunately, there are motels and state park inns to stay in along the way.

Thank you for your input Bamaman. Through our local Lowe dealer they can get one factory made for $2,700.00. North American waterways makes a " quick weather enclosure" for around $1500.00. That is not to bad but no real privacy due to all panels being clear. We do not travel much with the enclosure we made. It mainly knocks the wind and rain off. Also on cooler nights I use a buddy heater to keep it warm inside. We love to catfish at night but my wife does not like it cold. Once I get my laptop back I will post some pics of the one we made. It's pretty cool. We are thinking about selling our weldcraft alum boat and buying a factory enclosure. Just thought maybe there is a member around central Arkansas that has had one made. I did Google and checked Yellowpages. Closest place so far is south of Lake Ouachita, about a 2.5 hr drive one way. But they do good work. So such a long response, thanks again.

Here is the temp. enclosure that my wife made out of bulk tent fabric and marine vinyl. We often stay on the boat over night and at times all weekend. It attaches to the top and rails with velcro, behind the back seat is the clear marine vinyl so she can see her catfish poles at night time. Winter came upon us too soon and have not been able to complete the front but we use 2 clear shower curtains with clamps. As soon as it warms up the front will be complete as well.
I asked her what she wanted for her Birthday...She wanted to go fishing for the week-end, (Sept. 2015) Posting a pic of her Birthday Present!! Caught at 1am on a rod and reel. 29 pounds, 34" long. SHE WAS HAPPY!!
