Under deck ladder question

#1 Post by Barry » Sun Feb 07, 2016 10:25 am

Ok, heres the story.... I am rebuilding my 18' Bass Buggy. Currently it is down to the aluminum, no wood, no wiring, nothing. I decided to get one of those under deck ladders, just because they are so cool. And, I found a brand new one on CL for $150. So, now that I have it, I have to figure out exactly where and how to put it on. Not so much worried about how to bolt it down, and I know I want it in the middle of the bow. See, the problem is that the front end of the boat now comes to a point, its not flat across from one side to the other. My plan is to square off the middle of the bow, kinda take the point off of it. This way, when you climb up the ladder, you don't have to step around the actual point. Pretty sure I got all that figured out the way I want it. The only real problem I have left to figure out, is where to put the U bolt for the winch strap......

Ok, I just re-read that, and Im sure it makes no since to anyone. So let me try this again, another way. Does anybody have an under deck ladder mounted to the front bow? If so, can you post pictures of it?

Actually, I think I got it figured out. Im just going to mount the ladder with some 2" spacers between the ladder and the deck. The U bolt wont have to be moved. Which means it is still pulling on it just like it was from the factory. The ladder will still be in the center of the bow, like I wanted. The only bad thing, and its no big deal, is hooking up the winch strap. I will have to set the hook over the bottom rung of the ladder, then reach up between the two bottom rungs to hook it up. Like I said though, its not a big deal at all. Take about another 3 seconds, and have plenty of room to hook it up.
