Fuel Tank location

The fuel tank on my toon is located in the transom. I think this is an excellent design and I wonder why more Mfgs do not do this. It gives me more storage inside and I think the low center of gravity of the tank helps. Anybody have any opinions on this setup?

Mine is in the back of the middle tube. But it is not "exposed" to water directly as it is covered.
The fill is in a fiberglassed "pod" on the back starboard side. No bending over to fill.

On the 8th day GOD put the fuel tank in the transom. ya water can get in, if ya got a "HOLE", in witch case it don't mater if it is in the water or not cuz yaz got a "HOLE" in the gas tank. On the deck my 40 gal tank weighs 256.8lbs- (6.34lbs per gal) in the transom surrounded by water (8.34lbs per gal) it floats. in the transom I don't suffer the 256.8 pound weight penalty of the fuel, that's 2 more bikini clad 20somethings I can put on the boat. GOD is wise.

In my case, right next to the fuel fill, about 2 feet higher than the tank. They just ran both lines up together.
