Question about covers

#1 Post by rebel442 » Thu Apr 14, 2016 8:03 am

Ive got a new to me '02 Tracker Party Barge that unfortunately didnt come with any type of cover. Iv been looking around and see what looks like 3 price ranges. The $100 cheap'o ones, $500ish one and was quoted like $1500 for a full custom one. Are the cheap ones total garbage? Should I just buy a cheap one every year, instead of the $500 one? Or will the $500 ones last and be worth it for 5 or 6 years. Thanks for any help.

When I had my Sun Tracker, I bought a generic 20' tarp off of Amazon. Since my boat had snaps in place, I used those to fasten in the plastic clips that came with my generic cover. Made for a quick easy on and off at the dock. It doesn't look like much, but it did the trick for 4 years. I sprayed every season with 303 Fabric Guard and it would net let a drop of water through. Investment was less than $140!

I have the same sorta question. I have a nice custom cover, but I don't like to travel with it on and it's so large and difficult to get on that I find myself not bringing it on multi-day lake trips. I would, however, like a cover on these weekenders. I've seen the different covers at sites like pontoonstuff.com etc, but I'm really looking for something smaller/lighter that is elastic and just covers the fence, not necessarily the whole floor etc. Any thoughts?
