Seat tear repair

#1 Post by Goudax3 » Tue Jun 28, 2016 6:29 am

A friend found a small tear in one of his seat cushions. They are trying to get it replaced, but in the meantime they would like to repair it so it does not get worse. Has anyone used one of the many various Repair kits that are out there? Or are they a waste of time and money?

Advice would be appreciated.

If they are replacing it then you can use a dab of super glue on each end to fix it. I've tried to use those vinyl patch kits two times and with mixed results. Yes it did patch the tear but it never blended quite right and looked terrible since you end up doing a fair sized area. If it's just stopping the tear from getting bigger you are worried about and not cosmetics I would still go with the super glue...easier, quicker, and cheaper.

Tear Aid for fabric. Looks like clear duct tape. I'm using it on nylon pool floats. Under $10. Maybe a quick fix until you get a better solution.

The dealer agreed to replace the damage seat bottom, so he will take some temp solution until the replacement shows up.
