Clamp on rod holders for ski bar

#1 Post by evinrude2stroke » Tue Jul 12, 2016 12:38 pm

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've posted any topics..although, I pop in here often to read posts.
I recently traded my 18ft 2006 Manitou in for a 2016 20ft'er. My new one has a ski bar. I'm thinking of buys "clamp on rod holders" that can be clamped onto the ski bar and keep the poles up and out of the way... Does anyone have a set up like this?... I'm looking for any ideas or advice.
Thanks.
Dave

Dave,

I have Scotty pole holders. They have small mounts that are permanently bolted onto smaller cross members of my ski bar. I then bought the corresponding 3 pole mount kit that I can remove and store whenever I am not fishing.

Here's what I have. Makes for nice even spacing for 4 poles out. One on each side and two on ski bar.

Setup works very well for me and holders are nice quality. Easy install and easy to take off if desired.
I put black tape on ski bar area of mount to protect the ski bar finish.
Doesn't get in way of tubing either.

I put rod holders on my previous Premier ski tow bar and it worked out great. I was able to put 8 rod holders on the bar as noted in the second pic. I did end up turning them around as noted in the first pic so the motor would clear when raised. No issues whatsoever after turning them. These rod holders are from Fishonsports and are very well made!

Thanks guys!! That's exactly what I'm looking for... I'm no engineering whiz but I'm assuming my ski bar piping is 2".
Amazon here I come...

Dan- That's an awesome set you have!

That is one impressive setup Dan. In my case 80% of the time I fish alone, and on a lake. CT. State law is 3 poles per person but would sure improve catch if I had a few more. :)
