New-to-me boat: laying in the reading material
I've already ordered the Service Manual for my 2000 40hp Johnson. No engine Owners Manual came with the sale. It costs the same $30 as the SM--does it contain info NOT in the SM that I will need? I don't want to pay $60 for a bunch of duplication. My previous boat I have the engine OM which had a lot of maintenance info, but not the SM so I don't have anything to compare content.

Have you tried searching for the manual online where you can download it for free? I much prefer a digital copy of all my boat, motor and vehicle manuals and I got them all for free online.

I've had good luck doing that for everything else--but no luck finding the engine owners manual online.
If I we're more patient i'm sure I'd find one at a flea market for a couple bucks.
