2nd anchor

I've been really working at improving my boat control this summer and my fishing success has shown some progress as a result. Things like the right trolling motor, drift socks etc make a big difference especially when your working with 25 feet of boat to blow around.

I currently have a box anchor which works great for holding position, but there's still the issue of drift around the circumference of the anchor point. Anyone have any experience with a secondary anchor they really like just for minimizing sway on their primary anchor line? I considered buying a 2nd box anchor in the mini size, but cost pushed me to keep looking... Interfering issues like heavy current aren't a huge factor where I boat.

Yes, I carry a second anchor bought from West Marine (link below)

8lb. Traditional Anchor, 16' to 24' Boat Length, 600lb. SWL, 24"L x 18-1/2"W, 12-1/4" Fluke Length P/N 11743168

I use it mainly at the beach to minimize swaying. Stores below the seats and always grabs the first time. Primary anchor is the same style only a little larger. Same great performance.

I'm in a lake, it has a muddy bottom & vegetation. I find the mushroom anchors work best. They are practically "set it & forget it". A light one may work nice as a secondary for you just to hold the swaying..
