New to the pontoon world and need advice.
This will be our second trip on the lake with our "new to me" 1994 Sweetwater pontoon and we can hear a small amount of water sloshing in one toon. Is this something we need to be concerned with right away as in today or can it wait until we get out of the water!! I searched for a forum but couldn't seem to find one. All advice is very much appreciated!! Definitely don't want to go for an unplanned swim. Thanks in advance!!

I would just enjoy the day. The pontoon logs have multiple chambers and are quite safe. You would have to have holes in several of the chambers (top and bottom) for it to sink.

I would suggest getting the boat out of the water, however.
Sometimes they have to drill a hole in the bottom rear of the toon to drain the water, and weld it up after the leak's found. The toon is pressurized slightly, and you go over all the welds and seams with soapy water looking for bubbles.

That works if you have baffled logs. There are three main type of logs, baffled, chambered and foam filled (usually the U shaped logs). I had around 5 gallons of water in my center chamber. I siphoned out as much as possible. I then ran an aquarium pump and tube into the chamber for weeks. This was in the heat of the summer and eventually evaporated the rest.Bamaman wrote:I would suggest getting the boat out of the water, however.

I had a leak.. removed drain plug (if you have one) drain and then use a shop vac to "pressurize" the toon.
Have friend hold the shop vac hose (blowing) into the toon and spray soapy water to find the leak.
Don't use a compressor, I have read about toons exploding.
Best way to fix I had an experienced welder tell me is to have someone weld a patch over the hole. (alum welding)
