First thing you should do on any used boat is pay attention to the lower unit. I'd go ahead and have the lower unit pressure and vacuum tested--and the lower unit grease changed. While you're at it, change the grease in the trailer bearings too.

You may want to ask what their winterization consisted of. If the carbs. have been sitting with gas in the bowls, you should consider having them pulled, cleaned and reinstalled. To clean two carbs. is a 1 hour job for a good mechanic--and a can of carb. cleaner. With 90/10 gasoline being so corrosive with age, I'd also install a new fuel line and fuel filters. I assume it's a 2 stoke motor, and if so I'd also suggest putting a new rubber membrane in the fuel pump--a quick, easy, inexpensive task.

This is all routine maintenance, but needed to be done before going to the lake. You don't want any surprises on the water.

Check that fuel tank for water. if it was a partial fill there may be some condensation water in it. And the 90/10 gasoline goes bad fast. If it smells like turpentine.........then it is. Good luck.
