Steering setups without tube through engine
So, my motor is a 1972 Johnson 65 hp. It does not have a provision to run the steering cable through a tube on the motor mount. If any of you have a motor like this, how do you run your steering? I've attached pictures of my transom, and a couple of different mount options. I was thinking the stringer style mount would be easiest, but I'm not sure the best place to put the bracket to hold the steering tube. If that wouldn't work, I was thinking a splashwell mount, cut through the aluminum pod could. What would you guys suggest?

Re: Steering setups without tube through engine
i doubt a splash well mount will work its way to low but the transom one should
If it aint broke your not having enough fun

Where would you recommend mounting it? I guess that it will just depend on where the motor sits once it's bolted up.

you will have to make a mounting bracket to fit on the side of the splash well

Well, potentially picking up a parts boat tomorrow with a 75 hp johnson, so this might end up being a non-issue.
