Livewell lid lifting struts

Application is for a 2015 Sun Tracker 24 fishing barge xp3. At the rear of the boat is where my batteries and livewell are located(separate compartments) lol. The seats just raise up but don't stay up and I find it's really a pain when doing battery maintenance or just putting fish in the livewell. Has anyone added lifting struts to keep the lids open? I have done a goggle search and cant really find any info. Reaching out to you fine experienced folks to see if you might have any suggestions. Thanks Robert

Here is a link that helps with selecting the right gas shock for an application. There are options on the right to start.

It'd be very easy to do, but I don't know how long a strut would last in a live well, particularly if you fish in salt water.
A stick cut to the right length works very well in keeping a lid/seat up...

I recently put two in my '05 Bentley; one under each section of the rear sundeck. When the marina refurbished the boat (before I bought it); they'd removed both, and used nuts and bolts to keep the deck from being raised.
I replaced the bolts with pull pins, and bought replacement struts from an auto parts store. I took measurements for the approximate lengths in both the closed and opened positions.
The first two stores I visited had books that listed both strut lengths, and the weight; but didn't have the ones I needed in stock. The book in the third store only listed the extended lengths, and weight.
I took my best guess, hoping for the best; and those were in stock.
That worked out fine for me, and I hope you have good luck with yours. Bottom line; it ain't rocket science.

These may be the ticket for your application, had them on all my big boats with electronic boxes, holds the door open until you want to close it, then they collapse. varying weight specs, a few of them will support close to 20 Lbs.
