ECO MERCMONITOR
Just got a Mercmonitor, primarily for the hour gauge, troll control and several other monitoring capabilities. Paid just north of $400 for the kit, that included the level 1 monitor, 20' cable, male to male adapter and the water pressure sensor.
Hope I can find some decent install instruction.
Anyone that has one, I'd appreciate any insight.

I decided to try the new ViewVessel Mobile which seemed much easier to install. Will be interesting to compare the results.

Couple of questions on this:
Where did you get it and what was the cost if you don't mind sharing?
Did you install yourself?
Was it plug and play behind the dash?
I know certain things need extra sensors, but I'd like the digital readout for hours, actual rpm, etc.

I like that View Vessel Mobile. It has the same feel as the bluetooth OBD II readers and apps. I was hoping Mercury had something comparable, this way I don't have to mess with the gauge cluster at all.

I installed the Eco Mercmonitor on mine before I had the motor installed. I mounted the gauge in the helm, plugged the blue cable into it and ran the cable to the transom. It was as easy as that.

So, after reading this thread and doing a little research , I called Bass Pro and they had the Mercury Vesselview Mobile Monitor in stock. Sold. $275 plus tax.
Literally plug and play. Just find the 10-pin terminal under the cowl and follow the directions.
Went for a short run up the lake exploring the options on the app. Damn cool. Got the digital tach I've been wanting.

The Mercmonitor came with me recent repower, and I am really enjoying it! I think the Vesselview mobile looks really cool as well, I wonder if it has anything that the Mercmonitor does not that would make it worthwhile for both?
Doesn't the Vesselview have maintenance minders? I need to research the Vesselview....

I need to spend more time with the Vesselview for a proper review.
Many of the features overlap with the Mercmonitor. Mercmonitor, being hardwired, will be more accurate. Vesselview is Bluetooth and loses contact flipping between apps or if you shut the engine down. Reconnecting is easy enough but fuel consumption could be off as a result.
One handy feature is, VV is very portable, so it would be easy to check another engine. The app alows four engine profiles. It will keep and maintain a service schedule.

You beat me to it. My boat is still in storage until next week and the dealer ordered the device for me. Looks like it's a good buy.

Who wants to look at there phone to get info about your motor while boating???

I personally already have my phone mounted on the boat for things like Pandora, and an 8 inch tablet that runs Navionics and will eventually run my sonar as well. When a blank dash insert for my boat runs across one of the surplus sites, I am going to buy it. Long term I would like to run three tablets in the place of my normal gauges, one for Navionics, one for Sonar, and one for Vessel View. I'll come up with a flush mount solution, and maybe even a way to seal them so I can leave them on the boat, if not I can take the one tablet now on and off the boat in about 15 seconds in the current setup. I can basically have all touch screen gauges for around $200 plus the cost of the vessel view and sonar. All told, I can have two 8 inch screens for Navigation and Sonar, and a 10 inch for vessel view and have around $700 (including vessel view module and sonar module) into the entire setup which is a heck of a lot less than the normal displays...best part is if a display goes out it's $50-75 to replace.

I almost always have a device running. Bluetooth streaming music to my radio, or mapping charts, so it's no big deal to keep an eye on fuel consumption.

Hey Nate, looks like you've got a 150. If you're going to install VV yourself, I found my 10 pin terminal under the cowl, behind plastic cover that guarded other wiring, rear starboard side of the engine. That cover unsnapped on top next to a fuse box.

I wonder if there is a connector under the dash...I want to say I've seen one on my boat...is it the purple one? This is on my short list of upgrades I'd like to get done, but right now it's behind lighting on the toons, a courtesy light in the Bimini, and a sonar. I have a subwoofer that I have under the console but never wired in from an old boat...trying to decide on if that's going to get done this year or not as well. The Vessel View may move up the list because it's the easiest of all of the upgrades.
